Amerikāņu zinātnieki ir konstatējuši, ka strīdi ģimenē paildzina dzīvi, jo, emocijas noturot sevī, var iemantot dažādas slimības.
Kā uzskata Mičiganas štata veselības aizsardzības skolas un psiholoģijas katedras pētnieki, partneriem nevajag slēpt savu sašutumu un dusmas, ja viņi nevēlas priekšlaikus mirt.
Pētījuma rezultāti, kas publicēti žurnālā «Journal of Family Communication», parāda: ja viens vai abi partneri neslēpj dusmas, tas pagarina viņu dzīvi.
Zinātnieki 17 gadus novēroja 192 pārus, kurus var sadalīt četrās kategorijās: tādi, kur abi partneri neslēpj savas emocijas, otrā un trešā grupa, kur viens no partneriem neslēpj emocijas, ceturtā grupa, kur abi partneri klusē.
26 ģimenēs, kur abi partneri slēpa savas emocijas, šajos gados tika reģistrēti 13 nāves gadījumi. Pārējās 166 ģimenēs 41 nāves gadījums.
Zinātnieki teic, ka ģimenēs, kur emocijas tiek apslāpētas, mirstības iespējamība palielinās divas reizes.
